Range of Speciality Orthopaedic Services

Although we focus on Shoulder & Elbow and Foot & Ankle we also manage Selected extremity related conditions and injuries.

Orthopaedic surgery has developed into a vast surgical field with many sub-specialities. In order to maintain a level of expertise and work quality that our patients may confidently engage with, we constrain our General Orthopaedics work to selected limb / extremity related conditions.

Please choose from the selection below to learn more about specific conditions, or call us to discuss your requirement.

Shoulder & Elbow

Shoulder and elbow injuries, overuse problems and painful degenerative changes are commonly encountered in our clinical practice. The shoulder and elbow are complex joints and the diagnostic process requires thorough investigation before management options may be considered and a treatment plan formulated.

Injuries and pathologies of the forearm usually affect upper extremity function significantly. Disruptive injuries frequently requires a surgical approach but more commonly, less severe abnormalities are found that respond satisfactorily to nonsurgical treatment.

Adult Ankle & Foot

The foot is the contact weight-bearing component of the lower limb. A normal foot has the flexibility, adaptability and structural strength to transfer almost incredible weight-bearing and propulsive forces from the body to a wide variety of surfaces.

To simplify this complexity, we usually describe foot problems as being related to the forefoot, the midfoot or the hindfoot.  Not infrequently, more than one of these regions are involved and an abnormality of one region may affect the others.

Most commonly, ankle problems do not affect the foot directly and may be dealt with individually. Malalignment or stiffness of the ankle however, could have a detrimental effect on foot function.

General Orthopaedics

Many common orthopaedic conditions or injuries fall outside our practice focus of Shoulder & Elbow  or Foot & Ankle.

When our patients require such care, we unreservedly provide the appropriate services within the scope of our experience and expertise.

We refer patients with back or neck problems to colleague specialists with the required skills and experience. We do the same for patients requiring hip or knee replacement surgery.

Paediatric (Children’s) orthopaedic cases are referred to colleagues specialising in this field.
